Doggie Daycare Franchise Hounds Town USA is Long Island’s Top Dog
Hounds Town USA isn’t called “home to the happiest dogs on Earth” for nothing. Walk into any of the pet care franchise’s 5 locations and it’s easy to see why dogs all over Long Island are pulling their parents through the door each morning. “Hounds Town is a dream for dogs,” says Jackie Bondanza, VP of Hounds Town, Incorporated. “When dogs arrive in the morning, they know the drill: say goodbye to mom and then get right into the playroom to run, jump, and hump all day long!” she says.
Unlike other pet care facilities, Hounds Town USA does not breed discriminate and staff and owners are equipped to manage dogs regardless of their breed or disability. “We really know dogs, we understand how they behave and what their needs are, and that sets us apart from other pet care facilities,” explains Jackie. “We strive to provide what the dog needs first—and that is a safe place to interact in natural packs; and not necessarily expensive equipment, up-charged services, and silly things like bottled water. It’s just not our business model and our customers appreciate that.”
In fact, some customers have appreciated it so much that they have purchased their very own location. New franchisee Colleen Tracey, along with her partner Anne McDonald, is the third customer to buy into the system. Colleen, a dog mom of 5, was a customer at the Farmingdale location for several years when she had an idea. As a former Chief Administrative Officer of iLoveKickboxing—a kick boxing franchise she helped found—Colleen had extensive experience in franchising, advertising, and post-production, and was looking for a new career and investment opportunity.
Enter her 120-pound American Bulldog, Mason. His need for doggie daycare prompted Colleen to find Hounds Town. Leave it to the dog to point you to your destiny! “Between my love of animals and my experience working on the Franchisor side of business, I believe this is the perfect next step for me!” says Colleen.
While Colleen will be involved with the day-to-day of their Hounds Town USA location in the Mineola area, her partner, Anne, will manage the behind the scenes work of running a small business. “I’ve been working in radiology for over 23 years,” says Anne. “One of my greatest passions is caring for people.” Her other passion is animals, which makes this a great match. “I’ve always had dogs and cats as family members (or otherwise known as my brother or sister), since I am an only child,” explains Anne.
The dynamic duo are hitting the pavement in search of the ideal spot for their Hounds Town USA location. In the meantime, they are spending time with other Hounds Town franchisees and visiting other locations to get a taste for what it’s like to run a doggie daycare business. “I am energetic about transitioning into Hounds Town USA,” says Anne. “I look forward to being able to provide a safe and friendly environment for your furry family members.”
