Doggie Daycare Franchise Owner Q&A: Scott and Kelly – Phoenix, AZ
We’re always so excited to welcome new Owners into our doggie daycare franchise family, and this week is no exception! We’re proud to present two of our newest Franchise Owners, Scott and Kelly Kennemore, who will be turning their hometown of Goodyear, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix, into a HOUNDS TOWN in the coming year!
We caught up with Scott and Kelly to learn a little more about them and hear what led them to make the decision to change their lives and invest in a Hounds Town USA doggie daycare franchise. Here’s what they had to say:
Q: Tell us a little about what you were doing prior to becoming Franchise Owners with Hounds Town USA. What is your personal/professional background?
Scott: I’ve been a District Sales Manager & Account Executive at Kellogg Company for 20 years.
Kelly: I have been an office administrative assistant for the past 20 years.
Q: Owning a Hounds Town doggie daycare franchise means getting to reclaim some of your free time and find a healthy work-life balance. What are some personal hobbies or interests you look forward to having more time for as Franchise Owners?
Scott: We love to golf, hang out with family and friends, and take long walks with our dogs.
Q: How did you first learn about Hounds Town USA?
Kelly: We found out about Hounds Town through searching franchise websites.
Q: What makes Hounds Town USA the right doggie daycare franchise fit for you?
Scott: We both have a passion for dogs and believe their business concept is strong.
Q: What did you like about Hounds Town USA’s business model?
Kelly: It’s set up well for both hands-on and absentee ownership. We want to be hands-on at least for the first several years and then transition to part-time.
Q: What did you like about meeting the corporate crew at Hounds Town USA, including our Founder Mike Gould and President Jackie Bondanza?
Scott: Jackie and Mike were very personable and easy to get to know. They presented the business concept clearly and we felt comfortable going into a partnership with them.
Q: What did you like about the Hounds Town USA Discovery Day?
Kelly: We loved being able to experience what the day-to-day operations looked like as well as visiting a location in the build-out phase. Speaking with the other Franchise Owners was very helpful to understanding the process.
Q: Some of our doggie daycare Franchise Owners report having a kind of “A-ha” or “Lightbulb” moment that makes them want to franchise with Hounds Town USA. Did you have a moment like that, and if so, what was it?
Kelly: We searched for a very long time trying to find the right franchise that we both could feel passionate about. I guess our “a-ha” moment was when we stumbled across Hounds Town USA online and explored their concept and business model. Discovery Day pretty much sealed the deal for us.
Q: Why did you want to become an entrepreneur?
Scott: I’ve been managing a business at the Kellogg Company for 20 years and when changes were made there, I decided why not manage a business of my own rather than reenter the corporate world?
Q: What do you think will make you successful?
Kelly: The business knowledge we have acquired over our careers and the hunger and humility to learn will make us successful as business owners. We understand that we will be working within a structured business model that we know has been proven successful.
Q: What sets Hounds Town USA apart, in your eyes, from other doggie daycare franchise opportunities?
Kelly: We love the idea of working with local shelters to help all breeds of dogs to find forever homes. We appreciate that they do not discriminate against any breeds of dogs.
Q: What has been the best part of your experience with the Hounds Town USA corporate team so far?
Scott: The ability to have an open dialogue with Rob at Rainmaker and the ability to reach out to other Franchise Owners to get their honest feedback on the many questions we had going into the process. Hearing about which challenges to expect upfront and the light at the end of the tunnel was extremely helpful in setting the tone for what to expect.
Q: What advice would you give to a potential Franchise Owner?
Scott: Do your homework and try to fully understand all of the challenges that may arise as you make your decision to partner with any franchise. Speaking to people who have actually gone through the process is probably as important as getting your info from the franchise staff.
Q: How important are dogs or other pets in your daily life?
Kelly: Very important! We have two rescue dogs that we love spending time with. Jake is a 4-year-old male Boxer/Pitty mix and Marley is a 15-week-old female Pitty/Husky mix.
Q: What do you look forward to about owning your own Hounds Town USA franchise?
Kelly: We are looking forward to building a business with a proven track record of success- and we’re excited to take our pups to work with us every day if we want to!
Scott and Kelly will be the very FIRST Hounds Town USA Franchise Owners in the state of Arizona, and we can’t wait to introduce all the pet parents in the Phoenix area to our fun and affordable doggie daycare franchise. We look forward to celebrating the Kennemores’ Grand Opening with them later this year- stay tuned!
